Abstract

With the rise in the aged population, mental health conditions among older adults have become a matter of great concern due to different psychosocial issues. This paper talks about the critical issues related to mental health of the elderly, the factors affecting their mental health and support systems. It looks into how loneliness, diseases, money problems, and healthcare availability affect the mental health of the older population. Using both numbers and words of things, i.e. quantitative and qualitative data, as the government reports, surveys and experts in a certain field, the research evaluates the current mental health policies and programs. The research also addresses the need for better mental health services and greater social inclusion to prevent further cases. Important suggestions include strengthening support networks, merging mental health services with primary healthcare, and developing technology-based solutions to enhance mental well-being among the elderly.

Keywords: elderly mental health, ageing and well-being, psychosocial challenges, Geriatric healthcare, mental health policies, social support systems
