Abstract

This study critically examines the journalistic contributions of Madan Mohan Malaviya in the process of nation-building during colonial India. It highlights how Malaviya transformed journalism into a powerful tool for public education, political awareness, and national consciousness. Through newspapers such as Hindustan, Abhyudaya, Leader, and Maryada, he promoted linguistic nationalism, press freedom, and constitutional resistance against colonial policies. His journalism combined truth, ethical responsibility, and intellectual rigor, shaping public opinion and fostering unity. The study also emphasizes his role in advocating social reform, education, and economic awareness, particularly concerning rural issues. It concludes that Malaviya’s journalistic philosophy significantly contributed to India’s freedom struggle and laid a strong intellectual foundation for modern democratic discourse.
