DORA Policy
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to align Nitee Publication with the principles of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). By endorsing DORA, Nitee Publication commits to responsible research evaluation practices that prioritise the quality and impact of scholarly work over journal-based metrics.
Commitments
In accordance with DORA’s 10 recommendations for journals, Nitee Publication follows these commitments:
- Avoid journal-based metrics (such as Journal Impact Factor) as a measure of the quality of individual research articles.
- Provide article-level metrics (citations, downloads, altmetrics) to reflect the reach and impact of published work.
- Encourage responsible citation practices, prioritising primary literature where appropriate.
- Release reference list metadata publicly, supporting initiatives such as the Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC).
- Do not limit the number of references in research articles, allowing comprehensive citation.
- Promote transparency in authorship contributions, encouraging author contribution statements and standardised taxonomies using CRediT.
- Support open science practices, including data sharing, code availability, and reproducibility standards.
- Recognise diverse research outputs, including datasets, software, and policy contributions, as valid scholarly outputs.
- Ensure editorial independence and fairness, with peer review decisions based solely on the quality and relevance of the research.
- Regularly review and update assessment practices to remain aligned with evolving international standards for responsible research evaluation.
Policy Review
This policy will be periodically reviewed to ensure continued alignment with DORA principles and international best practices in research assessment.
