Plagiarism Policy
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to uphold the integrity of scholarly publishing by ensuring that all manuscripts submitted to Nitee Publication are original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism. This policy safeguards the credibility of the journal, protects author rights, and maintains trust within the academic community.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, ideas, figures, or data from another source without proper attribution.
- Reproducing substantial parts of another author’s work, whether published or unpublished.
- Self-plagiarism, i.e., reusing one’s own previously published work without disclosure or citation.
- Inadequate paraphrasing that closely mirrors the original source.
Screening and Detection
- All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening using reliable detection software.
- The editorial team reviews similarity reports to determine whether overlap is acceptable (e.g., references, methodology descriptions) or constitutes plagiarism.
Acceptable Similarity Threshold
- A similarity index of less than 15% (excluding references and common phrases) is generally considered acceptable.
- Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned to authors for revision or rejected outright, depending on the severity of overlap.
Consequences of Plagiarism
- Before publication:
- Minor overlap - Authors will be asked to revise and resubmit with proper citations.
- Significant plagiarism - Manuscripts will be rejected immediately.
- After publication:
- If plagiarism is proven after publication, the manuscript will be retracted from the journal.
- An official retraction announcement will be placed on the journal’s website.
- Depending on the seriousness of the case, further actions may include:
- Debarring the authors from future publication in Nitee journals.
- Notifying the authors’ funding agencies.
- Informing the authors’ institutions.
- Alerting the original authors whose work has been plagiarized.
Author Responsibility
- Authors must ensure that all sources are properly cited and that their work is original.
- Authors are required to submit a plagiarism declaration form at the time of submission, confirming that the manuscript is free from plagiarism.
Publisher’s Commitment
Nitee Publication is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in publishing. By enforcing this policy, the journal ensures compliance with international publishing ethics guidelines, including those of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).
