Editors
Editorial Vision
Editors are the custodians of each journal’s identity. At TheJournals by Nitee, we expect editors to guide the scholarly direction of their journal, ensuring that published work reflects both academic rigor and relevance to society. The role is not only about managing manuscripts but also about shaping conversations in management, social sciences, economics, sustainability, and related fields.
Responsibilities
Editors oversee the peer review process, ensuring that submissions are evaluated fairly and efficiently. They maintain the quality of published work by upholding high standards of scholarship and ethical practice. Editors are also expected to identify emerging themes, commission special issues, and encourage contributions that advance knowledge and practice. Beyond manuscripts, editors act as ambassadors for their journal—promoting it within academic networks, conferences, and professional communities.
Ethics and Integrity
We follow the principles set out by COPE and other international publishing bodies. Editors must ensure that issues such as plagiarism, conflicts of interest, and research misconduct are addressed transparently. Integrity in decision-making is central to maintaining trust among authors, reviewers, and readers.
Diversity and Inclusion
Our portfolio spans eleven journals, each with a global readership. Editors are encouraged to build boards and reviewer pools that reflect diversity in geography, discipline, and perspective. Supporting authors from underrepresented regions and institutions is a priority, as is ensuring that peer review remains unbiased and inclusive.
Peer Review Process
Editors should ensure that peer review is fair, transparent, and timely. Clear communication with reviewers and authors is essential, as is maintaining confidentiality. Selecting reviewers with appropriate expertise, handling disagreements constructively, and ensuring feedback is both rigorous and supportive are key parts of the process.
Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions must remain independent of commercial or institutional influence. Editors are entrusted with making decisions based solely on the scholarly merit of submissions, reinforcing the credibility of the journal.
Handling Complaints and Appeals
Editors should have a clear process for addressing author appeals, reviewer disputes, or reader complaints. All concerns must be documented, handled respectfully, and referred to the publisher or ethics committee when necessary.
Open Access and Licensing
Editors should be familiar with the journal’s publishing model, whether subscription-based, hybrid, or open access. Understanding licensing options such as Creative Commons and copyright transfer agreements helps ensure clarity for authors and readers regarding reuse and dissemination.
Data Transparency and Research Integrity
Editors are encouraged to promote transparency by asking authors to share datasets, code, or supplementary materials where appropriate. This supports reproducibility and strengthens the credibility of published work.
Journal Development
Editors play a strategic role in enhancing the visibility and impact of their journal. This includes monitoring citation metrics, article downloads, and alternative measures of engagement such as social media reach. They may propose special issues or thematic collections to spotlight new debates, and in some cases, initiate discussions around launching new journals in emerging areas such as sustainability, digital transformation, or interdisciplinary studies.
New Journal Proposals and Special Issues
Editors are encouraged to think creatively about expanding the scope of TheJournals by Nitee. Proposals for new journals should be grounded in clear academic demand, address emerging fields, and demonstrate potential for long-term impact. Special issues provide an opportunity to bring together leading voices on a particular theme, highlight cutting-edge research, and attract new readership. Editors should work closely with the central publishing team to develop proposals, define objectives, and ensure alignment with the overall vision of the portfolio.
Collaboration and Outreach
Strong journals thrive on collaboration. Editors are encouraged to foster partnerships with academic societies, universities, research centers, and policy institutions. Engagement with NGOs and community organizations is also welcomed, particularly for journals that intersect with governance, sustainability, and social development.
Continuous Professional Development
Editors benefit from ongoing training in publishing ethics, digital tools, and emerging trends. TheJournals by Nitee supports editors through workshops, webinars, and regular updates on best practices in scholarly publishing.
Succession Planning and Editorial Transitions
To ensure continuity, editors should plan for smooth transitions when editorial leadership changes. Mentoring associate editors and involving the editorial board in long-term planning helps maintain stability and vision.
