CAG–ICSSR Research Article Competition 2026: Call for Young Researchers

The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), in collaboration with the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, has announced the CAG–ICSSR Research Article Competition, a nationwide initiative designed to encourage evidence-based research and policy engagement among young scholars.

The competition provides an excellent platform for students and research scholars to contribute their ideas and research towards addressing key governance and development challenges facing India. Through this initiative, participants can engage with policy-relevant issues and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

Themes

Research articles may be submitted under the following themes:

• Fiscal Federalism and Governance
• Social Sector Spending
• Skilling, Employment and MSMEs
• Empowering Urban and Rural Local Bodies

Eligibility

The competition is open to:

• Undergraduate (UG) Students
• Postgraduate (PG) Students
• Doctoral Scholars

Competition Structure

The competition will be conducted in two stages:

• State/UT Level
• National Level

Awards

Selected participants will be eligible for attractive awards at both the State/UT and National levels. National-level prizes are available up to ₹1,25,000.

Covering 28 States and 3 Union Territories, the competition offers a valuable opportunity for emerging researchers to showcase their academic work and contribute meaningful insights to public policy and governance.
